Public Engagement & Communications
Communications work spanning community initiatives, public engagement, and campaigns, executed through media relations and content production.
Featured projects include the BYD × JPS 50% Campaign, which addressed public concerns about electric vehicle charging costs; the Kia Cares: Hurricane Melissa Relief Initiative at the King’s Primary & Infant School in Westmoreland; and the Stronger Schools Initiative (New Dawn Learning Centre).
Work included press coordination, media materials, interview preparation, and on-site coverage, supported by publication-ready photography, resulting in national coverage in major outlets including the Jamaica Observer, Jamaica Gleaner, and OUR Today.
BYD x JPS 50% Campaign
A campaign addressing public concerns around electricity costs associated with electric vehicle adoption. In partnership with BYD, the Jamaica Public Service Co. (JPSCo.) Ltd. offered customers a 50% discount on electricity bills for six months with the purchase of select BYD models, directly targeting a key barrier to entry. This was supported through a multi-channel campaign, including media engagement and broadcast. I authored the press release, picked up by OUR Today, and developed interview talking points for a FAME FM segment featuring Sloane Jackson, Head of Business, BYD Jamaica. The campaign generated strong public interest and resulted in 19 vehicle deposits.
Kia Cares: Hurricane Melissa Relief Initiative
Provided media relations support for the Kia Cares: Hurricane Melissa Relief Initiative, supporting recovery efforts at King’s Primary & Infant School in Westmoreland. The initiative repurposed the Kia Tasman pickup, originally slated for showroom launch, for on-the-ground relief, generating national coverage in the Jamaica Gleaner and the Jamaica Observer. Coverage highlighted Kia’s community-first response in partnership with the Sandals Foundation and the Wisynco Group through its M-POWA non-alcoholic malt beverage brand. Responsibilities included managing media invitations, coordinating press logistics, facilitating on-site media engagement, and delivering curated, captioned imagery to the Jamaica Gleaner.
Stronger Schools Initiative
Led media relations support for the Stronger Schools Initiative, a long-term education support programme that benefited the New Dawn Learning Centre. The initiative focused on holistic school improvement and was funded through a dedicated contribution from vehicle sales by the ATL Automotive Group over the 2025–2026 school year. I wrote the official press release announcing the initiative, published by the Jamaica Observer and OUR Today. I also produced the accompanying photography for both outlets, including coverage of a subsequent Christmas treat at the school by OUR Today.
